Phone camera or camera phone?

I’ve been taking photos with this Nokia N73 not because it’s a phone me and a coupla other bloggers have been kindly asked to test and use, but I’ve been taking photos with it because, man, it’s got a kickass camera or what?

3.2 megapixels says my phone camera (or is it cameraphone) and its Carl Zeiss lens will beat yours any time. In terms of megapixelness lah. Or if you’re also using an N73. I’m still not so good a photographer, especially after seeing what the other testers in the seeding program can do with theirs.

Fireworks, no really

If you look closely enough at the photo above, you might just make out the fireworks in the night sky. I took this photo on Friday night, when National Day fireworks were still being um.. displayed. It is evident that the N73’s very powerful flash is not nuclear powered. You still simply cannot take pictures of fireworks with this cameraphone.

And that’s about the only thing that sucks about this phone camera. (Apart from the fact that it is very difficult to plug handsfree headsets into Nokia phones.) My poor Canon Ixus is lying around as back-up now.

For all your Kodak moments – this phone suffices

  1. Hi buddy, it’s nothng to do with your flash. To take Fireworks, you don’t need a flash, you need to keep the shutter open for a least 10 to 15 seconds..

  3. Cool camera phone! And I was still so proud of my Sony Ericsson S700i with the 1.3 megapixel camera… never mind, I must save money and not buy a new phone. Anyway, I doubt I can find that phone here in NZ, and my S700i still looks very pro here, so that’s good. 🙂

  5. Hey Mr Miyagi, the reason why the fireworks cannot be seen is because the flash is on. In photography term, strong light (e.g.: street light, flash) cause light pollution. Notice that there is a blue cast on the picture. This is cause by the flash. The flash is brighter than the fireworks, which cause the fireworks not to be seen. And what Lincoln said is right. 7. I always thought the flash won’t affect the photo, cos the fireworks are so far away. I guess light pollution is possible, but more applicable to the huge-ass professional kinds. Not these puny little LED lights on phones. 🙂

  9. I was wondering if this phone has a hot swap for the mini SD. Its kinda irriating if you dun have one. Since, well, I dunno. But I feel the hot swap is good cos USB transfers (esp with PC Suite) are darn slow. 0.o
