Earth Hour

Earth Hour

At lunch on Good Friday, my mother’s friend spoke about how her younger son’s school was going about teaching the kids about being environmentally friendly.

It’s all good to teach them the message, but this is apparently what happened in practice. The younger son had have a set of folders for class, and thinking that it would be a good lesson in practice in being environmentally friendly, my mother’s friend decided to use her older son’s old folders for her younger son to use – recycling and re-using – as you would if you were remotely environmentally friendly.

The younger son went to school proudly with his slightly worn set of folders and then, apparently copped an earful from his teacher for having “old folders”.

No good.

But it is Earth Hour this Saturday, and I’m gonna try to turn off everything in the house between 8pm – 9pm, and see how that turns out. Support Earth Hour by doing the same, and maybe get them to turn off the stupid vomiting Merlion.

Look at the environmentally-friendly US Postal Service — they are now in the recycling business!

Don’t know what to do with all your old cell phones, IPods, and printer cartridges? The U.S. Postal Service has just announced a vital new service that lets you recycle cell phones, iPods and other electronics — as well as printer inkjet cartridges — via mail.
    For free!
To use the “Mail Back” program, find one of the 1,500 post offices that offers special free envelopes. Drop in your recyclable electronics item, and mail it without postage. It goes to Clover Technologies Group, which recycles, remanufactures and remarkets inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges and small electronics. Check it outhere
