Third-best seller is not the same as third bestseller

If not for Alan Greenspan and some fella named “Moe“, I’d be the #1 bestselling author at the PageOne bookstore in VivoCity:

Bestseller

Looking at the list, and knowing how little I know about money and the economy, I think I’m going to write something about baked goods.

    Confession time.

I made a rare visit to PageOne just two days ago. My last visit was months ago, when I quickly experienced giddy spells after walking amidst rhombic shelves and failing to fixate on any one focal point.

Thank goodness the revisit was NOT marred by the same rhombic fixtures around me. The Chinese section was a rare and refreshing find for me. The section that offered 20% discount was even more captivating. There on the bestsellers’ chart, I saw the very one book whose existence I had taken so damn long to discover. They said 9.95 for a comic book was steep, but my pupils enlarged when I saw that the 20% discount would apply!

So much for putting your masterpiece on the pedestal. The irony is, I didn’t buy it after all. My wife and I were trying desperately to buy a 3rd item that will avail us our passport to the Vivo card together with its parking perks. We needed something that would make us $13 poorer, not a comic book costing a mere $9.

Sadly, I left PageOne without having had the chance to flip One Page of your comic book. By the way, they were all strategically air-tight wrapped, so buyers are forced to buy first browse later, with or without regret.

Ok, shall I wait for the remotely possible 50% discount at Page One, before I lay my hands on your 3rd bestseller?
