Magic Hay Mee Fundoshi

So mrbrown is on a road trip to bring you new and exciting stories about the Land-of-the-Crooked-Bridge-Builder-Wannabe-Then-Change-Mind (Malaysia), and I’m stuck here in Singapore covering new and exciting developments, three at a time, about the elections.

Zion Road Prawn Noodle Soup
One more week to try the moody Hay Mee Man’s noodles! Hurry!

And I can tell you now, the ground is not sweet. At lunch at Zion Road Food Centre, Hay Mee Man recognises me, asks me how things are, thanks me for talking about his Hay Mee on this here blog, and then tells me things are no good with him and his Hay Mee business.

You see, there are now two other Big Prawn Noodle stalls in the very same Food Centre! The bastards!

So, Hay Mee Man tells me he’s shutting down at the end of this month.

That’s about all I caught of his mumbly Hokkien, apart from asking me whether I had tried the other stalls’ offerings. He did give me $2 off a bowl of Big Prawn Noodles as reward for blogging about his stall, and for not trying the other stalls’ offerings.

  2. Update: Blogger is having some problems all day so I cannot publish the feed that my iTunes subscription uses. So bear with me, subscribers, and I will try to get the feed fixed when Blogger gets their act together. NoMiyagi this week, just mr brown and Mr Tan (yes he is back!) podcasting from a noisy Super Nice coach to Kuala Lumpur. We were supposed to take a premium coach (like those from the Aeroline and the Nice bus companies), which I booked online, but for some

I know this Hay Mee Man, I think.. the one beside stall selling bean curd? He gave me free noodles (for no reason other than it was the last bowl he was selling that night). Ask the Sweet Hay Mee Man don’t go!

I just visited his stall a couple of weeks back… and that was when he said he’s taking his business elsewhere. I wonder where will he be moving to… will miss his hay mee!

  8. Prawn Mee for me…

Most good prawn mee places are located either in hawker centres or coffee shops, neither of which have air-con…
