How bout the blooming petals?

Today, like every other day, we wake up empty
and frightened. Don’t open the door to the study
and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.

Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.

~Jelaluddin Rumi

Now, how about the mass flowering that’s been going on? Pretty or what?

Cassia fistula – the one with the yellow flowers and pods hanging down

Angsanas usually have pretty dense canopy la.. yellow flames don’t have such long pods hanging downwards ; they all stick upwards.

And those ‘resembling the jap tree’ are called Tabebuia rosea.

the first pics are not ixoras. ixoras have compound leaves and you can safely lick it’s nectar, i believe they are lantanas? can cause a very very bad tummy ache if you try tasting it’s nectar.

At first I thought I was licking the wrong flower nectar since I was young (a logical reason for my retarded-ness), but alas, my mental impediment wasn’t due to that. Someone’s obviously made a mistake here.

That red flower IS the Ixora and the red species is common in Singapore (what I used to sample, though i never found them sweet… liars!). The leaf and flower profile, including color graduation and texture of the leaves, are more Ixora than Lantanas (which have rougher textured leaves).

Compare to Miyagi’s Ixora photo with one here:

These are Lantanas… see the differences?
