Dog-tired catSome days, you just wanna curl up and hide somewhere shady and have a short kip.

Zhng My Car: Spoof of a spoof

Three fellas from the Boys’ Brigade made this video spoof of the first Zhng My Car podcast, which, if you didn’t already know, is a spoof of MTV’s Pimp My Ride. Very, very well done, boys! We are speechless. How many times did you listen to the thing just so you guys could script the video?!

TODAY: The ‘faceless’ up in arms

todayBloggers riled about assertions that they are ignorant and lack creativity

OVER the weekend, some local newspapers took to highlighting blogs and the elections.

The Weekend Today ran a front page story about bloggers and whether “they know the rules” regarding the elections — complete with a cover photograph depicting bloggers as faceless people with paper bags over their heads.

And The Straits Times declared last week that only 1 per cent of the population found blogs “credible”, as opposed to 60 per cent who found newspapers credible.

For the road

Gratititius Grotitious Grastistitious Nice Chiobu Photo

Work these few weeks has been a series of days driving around the island, all over the place, for short meetings where sometimes not much gets achieved. And then you realise you actually spend more time on the road than at the meetings. Sian.

Looking for the right driving music is a challenge too, with the usual radio stations disappointing, and their deejays annoying.

So, thank you Lancerlord, for the perfect pick me up. I give you the Hokkien driving song here. (For best results, don’t listen until you’ve loaded it into your MP3 player / iPod and plugged it into your car stereo, started the car, and are driving down the ECP/AYE/PIE/BKE/SLE/TPE/KJE).

The problem with wearing these bags is that you can’t really remember where you were standing in a photoshoot… I think I’m on the left, and the one with the big bag is mrbrown

So, Lee U-Wen calls me on Thursday to ask me a coupla questions regarding blogging and the elections. I tell him straightaway, ‘wah lao, over already lah, say so many times liao, still want to talk about it?’, or something to that effect. He says, ‘No, not over yet’. And I ask him, ‘You want juicy quote is it? I give you juicy quote lah!’

So, I say something about the current laws not being clear enough for bloggers to know exactly what can and cannot be done. Like, for example, the law (Parliamentary Elections Act) says that you cannot conduct any political advertising or make any party political film during the election period.

So, which means, technically, you could do something on your blog before the period, but during the period, you have to take it down and ensure that nothing appears in cache during the election period – because, you know, things that you wrote and filmed before the election period would not influence the electorate during the election period. Doesn’t matter if it were exactly the same in terms of content as something you might have written during the election period. Y’know?

Dunno lah. I’m just a blogger. The paper bag’s making it hard for me to breaf.

Read U-Wen’s Weekend Today article, and shake in your boots at his snide “Welcome to the real world, bloggers”.

Don’t wanna? Well, just listen to our podcast then. More fun, I tell youse. Especially since it’s still sponsored by Okamoto Condoms, and there’s still a contest going on where you can win up to $1000 in cash prizes.
