A Toast! Speech! Speech?

August 19th, 2006 · Comments

This is going to be the first time I am best man.

And how appropriate to be best man for my best friend. Yes it’s my best friend’s wedding.
And he is getting married to a beautiful, intelligent, funny, sexy woman who is also my friend and manager.

My heart just brims with happiness when I see them together. So in love and preparing to walk down life’s journey together as man and wife.

The perfect marriage is not when the perfect couple come together. It’s when two imperfect individuals spend their life time learning to enjoy each other’s differences.

Ben and I, scurrying about college corridors. Meeting up under the stairs in the triangular hollow with the gang. We thought it was so cool sitting around under the stairs in between classes. Or lazing on the bleaches overlooking the
running track.

We held our 18th birthday together and had a theme. “Hawaiian Heat”. Wah lau. Ugly or what!

Thanks to Ben, I made frequent trips to Sydney to visit him while he was there studying. I learnt many things about myself on trips alone to Sydney. Ben was always there to make sure I wasn’t “over-learning”.

Remember “pontang-ing” work to catch the opening of X-Men at 11.30am on a Thursday morning?
Our once-a-month extravagant meals at L’Aigle D’or on Duxton Road?
Dye-ing our hair orange in Sydney?
Aerogrammes? – Amazing! We actually could write before the age of Internet.
Lorenzo and his living room sexcapades?
T.I.T.L. in Brisbane? – “HO-SAAARRRNNN” – Darren Seah.

Thank you for clearing up the Bowick Mess. The Black Ena couldn’t have done it better.

Our journey as Best Friends doesn’t end here. Discovery and adventure have always been our driving force.

The way to continue this journey is to top-up. Top-up the love, the trust and the friendship.

I wish you both all the happiness and joy. I’ll be here if any of you need a shoulder, a hand, a smile, a hug.

God Bless.
