On the Feb 28 episode of her show, Ellen DeGeneris talked about the recent murder of an openly gay 8th grader (15 years old) by a fellow 8th grader he had asked to be his valentine:
“If the message is that being gay is so horrible that you can be killed for it, then we have to change the message”
