Channel NewsEarlier & the Blue Screen of Death

Mornings are never my prime time
‘Wah, damn early, can?’ was my first response when mrbrown informed me that the SWF organisers had scheduled us for CNA’s Prime Time Morning slot to talk about the blogging segment of the festival. It was also my second and third responses.
Now, we’re never good morning people (haha, good morning people, haha), and not having enough sleep the night before, plus the infernal jam on Lornie Road (must be the new ERP charges on the other roads) put paid to any chance of either of us being pleasant interviewees.
First up, nobardy told mrbrown he couldn’t wear his favourite blue shirt, so he wore his favourite blue shirt. One of the producers scrambled to find a non-blue top from the Channel 8 wardrobes, and came up with a cream coloured sweater that matched every pixel of mrbrown’s cream coloured skin tone. I can hear him screaming at this blog post now: “It was ivory-coloured, you moron!”
Turtleneck jokes aside, the other thing that didn’t go well was the fact I didn’t know we were already on air when I kept looking at Suzanne Jung’s notes on the coffee table, hoping to pre-empt her questions. mrbrown was already up and away peppering answers to the interview questions when I finally gave up trying to see the questions. The teleprompter thing also proved to be a distraction, as were typos on the teleprompter thing.
Next thing we knew, the interview segment was over, with Suzanne telling us her blog was not under her real name. So we told her we’d search the web under the terms ‘I am a hot CNA presenter chick’. Sure find one.
Then, eh, we didn’t talk about the Singapore Writers’ Festival at all. Fark us dead, we’re not earning our per diems for the festival. But then we’re not getting paid for today’s interview, so nair mind ler.
Surf stop: mrbrown’s flickr set of today’s CNA segment.
iTunes is playing an illegal copy of Where’s My Everything from the album “Labour Of Love — The Music of Nick Lowe” by Greg Brown of which I have the original CD.
