Stayin’ alive

There was once at my pre­vi­ous job when I had to travel to Bin­tan with half a dozen chiobu in tow, and decided it would be nice to be wear­ing a tank-top and shorts, see­ing as the chiobu were wear­ing the same.

At the ferry ter­mi­nal where we met up, one of the said chiobu said to me, ‘Wah lao, you know Indone­sia is halal one right? You wear like that look like pork!‘

I din get no respeck!

That, and one dizzy spell and a full blood-screening a few months later con­vinced me some­thing had to be done if chiobu were to take me seriously.

Five years later, look at me! Not only do chiobu take me seri­ously (‘I’m seri­ous, dude, take my photo off your blog now!’), I made mr brown stop talk­ing for five min­utes as he nego­ti­ated the third 400m at the track.
